Day 1Hosea Kutako International Airport - Windhoek

Arrival at the Hosea Kutako International Airport in Windhoek. A transfer company will drive you to your accommodation in Windhoek, where you will have the opportunity to spend the afternoon at leisure.

  • Windhoek
    Situated in Central Namibia, the cosmopolitan city of Windhoek serves as the capital of the country. It is home to an international airport and a plethora of restaurants, shops, entertainment venues and accommodation options. The city is clean, safe and well-organised, with a colonial legacy that is reflected in its many German eateries and shops, and the widespread use of the German language. Windhoek has an interesting mix of historical architecture and modern buildings, many of which are worth a look, including the Alte Feste an old fort, the 1896 Christuskirche Christ Church, and the more contemporary Supreme Court.

  • Naankuse @ Utopia
    The modern N/a’ankusê@Utopia establishment has allied with the neighboring Pension Bougainvilla and offers serene rooms and luxurious suites situated amid beautiful, green lush gardens. The hotel is conveniently located in the tranquil suburb of Klein Windhoek.

Day 2Windhoek - NamibRand Nature Reserve

A transfer company will drive you from your accommodation to the Eros Airport, where you will embark on a light-aircraft transfer to NamibRand Nature Reserve, a vast privately owned reserve covering almost 200 000 hectares bordering the Namib Naukluft Park. On arrival you will be met by one of your local guides, who will transfer you to the lodge.

    Spanning an area of 172,200 hectares and encompassing four distinct ecosystems, the NamibRand Reserve of southern Namibia is among the largest privately owned game parks in Southern Africa. Founded to conserve the unique environment and wildlife species of the Namib Desert, the park’s mix of dunes, mountains, rocky outcrops, sandy flats, and gravel plains provides habitats for a diversity of mammals, including hyenas, jackals, foxes, antelopes, and various wild cats. A plethora of bird species, reptiles, insects, and frogs also have their home here, alongside an array of plant species. Discover the mysterious ‘fairy circles’, unexplained bare patches in the sand, or enjoy a night of sublime stargazing – having been named Africa’s first International Dark Sky Reserve, it is one of the least light-polluted areas in the world.

    Positioned on the edge of a 250-metre high dune, Dune Camp has the most extraordinary views across the Namibrand reserve. The main areas are spread out across a series of interlocking decks ensuring that the lounge, dining area and tea room all enjoy views across the endless dune landscape to the mountains beyond. The tented and wooden structures are designed for the desert. The canvas sides can all be opened up capturing the cool breeze in the hot summer months, and in winter keeping you warm when the canvas sides are rolled down.

Day 3NamibRand Nature Reserve

Two activities are included today. The lodge’s experienced guides will introduce you to the desert's habitat and diverse fauna and flora and will accompany you into the desert, enlightening you of the wilderness’s own history andresidents.

Day 4NamibRand Nature Reserve - Swakopmund

Today’s flight will give you an aerial view of the majestic dunes surrounding Sossusvlei. Proceed along the coast, subject to weather conditions, over Conception Bay, Sandwich Harbour, and its famous lagoon to Swakopmund. Once you land at the Swakopmund Airport, a transfer company will drive you to your accommodation where you can spend the afternoon at leisure.

    Set along Namibia’s spectacularly scenic coast, the seaside town of Swakopmund is known for its wide-open avenues, colonial architecture, and its surrounding otherworldly desert terrain. Founded in 1892 as the main harbour for German South-West Africa, Swakopmund is often described as being more German than Germany. Now a seaside resort town, Swakopmund is the capital of the Skeleton Coast tourism area and has plenty to keep visitors happy. The quirky mix of German and Namibian influences, adventure options, laid-back atmosphere and cool sea breeze make it a very popular Namibian destination. Visitors can look forward to a number of exciting activities including: quad biking, horse riding, paragliding, fishing, sightseeing and fascinating desert tours.

Day 5Swakopmund

For today, we recommend you partake in one of the various activities in Swakopmund and the surrounding areas. The scenic drive from Swakopmund to Walvis Bay takes about 45 minutes. Don’t forget to take a hat, sunscreen and a warm jacket along. After 3 exciting hours the catamaran will dock and your guide will return you to the hotel.

  • Mola Mola Safaris Marine Dolphin Cruise
    Guests will set off on a breathtaking boat cruise along the coast, where they’ll enjoy up-close encounters with whales, playful dolphins, curious seals, and graceful pelicans in their natural habitat. Unlike before, guests will get to experience more of the local fauna and flora after being dropped off on the beach of a secluded lagoon on Pelican Point. Guests will get to savor the taste of fresh oysters paired with a glass of sparkling wine as they take in the stunning ocean views. With a delicious lunch served picnic style on the beach, this experience blends marine wildlife, coastal beauty, and local flavors into a relaxing and unforgettable adventure.

  • Strand Hotel Swakopmund
    Its architectural inspiration finds its roots deep in Namibian-German history and reflects this in a tasteful contemporary manner. The interiors are residential in nature, and the brief to all designers involved was to create a non-hotel, hotel. One as charming and welcoming as the town it is located in. Simply very warm and comfortable, and as they say in German: “gemütlich” providing a genuine “sense-of-place” atmosphere adding to any Namibian visit.

Day 6Swakopmund - Kaokoveld

After breakfast you will be escorted to the Swakopmund Airport for your flight to your next destination, the Hoanib Valley Camp.

    Where Kaokoland meets the Skeleton Coast, in western Namibia, the 270-kilometre-long Hoanib River is one of the last water oases in the country, providing a haven for numerous animals. Home to 75% of Namibia’s endemic species, including the largest numbers of desert-adapted, free-roaming elephants, lions, and rhinos in the world, as well as zebra, kudu, and giraffe, this is a truly exceptional and awe-inspiring place. Visitors can enjoy taking a wonderful four-wheel-drive route, going on adventurous hiking trails, running down enormous sand dunes, or climbing massive, strangely shaped rock formations as well as several guided nature walks.

  • Hoanib Valley Camp
    Located in one of the most beautiful areas of Namibia, the camp and its surrounds are truly breathtaking with many visitors feeling time spent here is a life affirming experience. The north western area, Kaokoland, is identified by its vast open desert wilderness, towering dunes and swathes of rocky mountains. Tucked into the backdrop are six guest tents exuding a modern safari style that reflects their surrounds in the furnishing and design.

Day 7Kaokoveld

The activities offered by the camp focus on the flora and fauna that have adapted to this desert region. In addition to being known for the dry region of the Kaokoveld and the desert elephants that live here, the region is also home to many other animals – you can also participate in exciting game observation trips and see, with a bit of luck, giraffes, springboks, oryx and even lions. Guests are welcome to also join the guides for a visit to the local tribes of Himba, Herero or Damara.

Day 8Kaokoveld - Skeleton Coast

Today you will be transferred by road from the Hoanib Valley Camp to Shipwreck Lodge. Make sure to have your camera ready as you might spot a few animals along the way.

  • Skeleton Coast
    Stretching from the Swakop River to southern Angola, Namibia’s Skeleton Coast is known as the ‘Land God Made in Anger’. Thousands of miles of sandy desert dotted with shipwrecks meet with the cold waters of the Atlantic, where ocean fog creeps over the shoreline. Somehow, an amazing array of wildlife and flora manages to survive in this harsh but beautiful environment. Animals living here include seabird colonies, Cape fur seals, zebras, gemsbok, desert-adapted elephants, lions, and many more. Surfing enthusiasts are drawn to the powerful crashing waves, and photographers flock from around the globe to snapshot the eerie shipwreck graveyards and breathtaking coastline.

  • Shipwreck Lodge
    The lodge is located in the famous Skeleton Coast Central Concession between the Hoarusib and Hoanib Rivers in the Skeleton Coast Park, only 45 km north of Möwe Bay. The lodge is situated on the southern bank of the Hoarusib River Mouth, nestled between the dunes with a view of the Atlantic Ocean where the cold Benguela current pushes a refreshing breeze over the shipwreck-shaped cabins. The size of the concession area is approximately 146,600 hectares situated in North Western Namibia.

Day 9Skeleton Coast

 

Two activities are included today. There are day excursions by vehicle to the Möwe Bay seal colony as well as to the Hoarusib River. You could also take part in a sundowner drive to the roaring dunes.

  • Skeleton Coast

  • Mowe Bay
    Möwe Bay is the northern end-point on the C34 road into the Skeleton Coast National Park just 10km north of the ephemeral Hoanib River mouth. It serves as the park’s HQ approximately 80km north of Terrace Bay and is strictly off-limits to casual and independent travellers. Möwe Bay houses a small museum recording the history of local shipwrecks with artefacts and skeletal remains of wildlife found in the area. Remnants of the Suiderkus wreck are found on a nearby beach which is strewn with semi-precious stones and pebbles. The local seal colony provides rich pickings for scavenging hyaena, jackal and on occasion desert-adapted lion. Several springs forming part of the linear oasis system with in the Hoanib valley are located nearby within the National Park.

  • Shipwreck Lodge

Your destination today is nestled on a hillside amongst Mopani trees overlooking a large waterhole and the vast expanse of Etosha. Safarihoek Lodge offers infinite views over the plains below.

    Set just outside the south-western border of Etosha National Park, Etosha Heights Private Reserve offers enthralling landscapes, a huge variety of flora and fauna, and a wide range of thrilling activities. Vast savannah, rivers, forests, Mopani woodland, salt pans and dolomite hills spread themselves over the 60,000-hectare area. Numerous safaris and game drives offer the chance to see kudu, lion and the elusive mountain zebra (in the hills) and sable, black-faced impala, giraffe, aardvark, elephant and many more (around the waterholes). Visitors can also take night drives and bush picnics. A double-storey photography hide allows close-up encounters with an incredible diversity of gorgeous birdlife and animal life.
